Here we are.
Thanks for stopping.
Is there anything better than the art-form of creating things with technology? I didn't think so. I write HTML, SCSS/CSS, and presentational JavaScript. I've had the pleasure of working with a lot of very smart and creative people throughout the years in large and small teams. I've also enjoyed the tranquility of working on various freelance projects. Lately, I've been into Flexbox, CSS Grid, functional programming techniques in JavaScript, module patterns, understanding function scope and closure, motion on the web, and working with frameworks such as Vue and React.
I have extensive experience working in CMS systems such as Drupal and WordPress, along with working along side teams in .NET MVC and PHP shops. I subscribe to (maybe too many) newsletters related to front-end web development, practices and industry movement. One of my favorite things, however, is creating things from scratch (like this little website).
You won’t find me on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or the like because… well, just because.
a couple of links:
I was tasked with a complete restructure / redesign of the agency site for E Group, Inc. This was built in .NET MVC framework, and I took control of creating a fresh look and feel with some subtle animations, scroll control, flyout nav and a modern design.
Project managers supplied most of the marketing content, and I supplied all HTML, SASS and JavaScript, along with a nice user experience on tablet / mobile.
A freelance project for a cool travel blog to showcase destinations, experiences and travel history. I spun up a local WordPress install, built a completely custom theme using the Underscores starter package, and went to town. I built custom templates and plugins to allow for the filtering and displaying of posts by category. While driving the design and overall architecture of the site, I worked closely with the client throughout entire development process.
I also leveraged a Google Maps plugin to allow the client to pin locations based on previous destinations and set up a MailChimp account to use for newsletter signups.
A freelance project for a local pottery maker's portfolio. The client provided some direction on imagery, and I ran with the rest. I presented a few different color palette options and site layout. This WordPress site was built from scratch with a starter theme and customized from there.
I set up the photo gallery to show off the client's beautiful work while remaining responsive and fast-loading.
This WordPress project was built from scratch for the rock band, Goodnight Ritual. The idea was to keep things SUPER minimalistic, black & white and stark. The site focuses on showtime listings, a 'ramblings' blog and a contact form.
The audio player is set up to allow the client to easily manage track listings, titles and images.
